Interim volunteer programme leadership for an emirate-wide sporting event
The Challenge
With limited time before the Games, leadership recognised they needed experienced support to design and deliver a large-scale volunteer programme across the event’s many venues and functional areas.
The programme needed rapid stabilisation and clear delivery governance. It also had to align with the national volunteering strategy – including a close partnership with the national volunteering authority – and integrate with internal functional areas and external delivery partners.
Our Role
AcuityX led a programme reset and delivery roadmap. We ran a rapid diagnostic, then put in place a structured delivery plan tied to the Games’ milestones, keeping the client’s priorities at the centre throughout.
We partnered with the national volunteering authority to secure compliance, activation and legacy alignment, and established clear working relationships with internal functional areas and external operators.
To assure readiness, we designed a volunteer readiness programme covering workforce planning, training frameworks, post-prioritisation procedures and escalation protocols embedded in the Games-time command structure.
Finally, we ran a targeted engagement strategy to drive role clarity, performance and retention, aligned with the Games’ values.
The Outcome
By the end of the engagement, thousands of volunteers had been mobilised and deployed across the Games’ venues, delivering strong operational readiness.
Clear governance, reporting and executive visibility were in place, with seamless integration across government, organisers and delivery partners. Most importantly for the long term, a scalable volunteer framework now supports the UAE in hosting future major events.
